ATLATL
Also called a throwing board, the atlatl helped hunters harpoon whales, sea otters, and seals. The spear is inserted or hooked in to one end of the atlatl; as the thrower's arm moves forward, it is released on its trajectory. Fashioned out of wood, bone, or antler, the atlatl gives a spear thrower greater range and power.
