DR. WILLIAM FITZHUGH
One of Dr. Fitzhugh's primary goals for the expedition is to meet with
Russian colleagues in Yakutsk. The Siberian high arctic has not yet been
extensively explored by archaeologists. They hope that sites there will
help explain just how early humans survived in the harsh arctic climate.
Fitzhugh plans to visit existing archaeological sites to find evidence of
early Asian-American contact.
To perform this work, one needs "permission," a word that is
whispered regretfully in scientific circles in Yakutsk. Just who is
authorized to grant that permission is another question altogether.
