BERINGIA.
Beringia is the region surrounding -- and including -- the Bering Strait,
which separates the North American and Asian continents.
We try to imagine Beringia as it existed then, inhabited by mammoths,
woolly rhinos, and bison. Though the climate was cold, its flora and
fauna helped to support a thriving human population that migrated to the north and east, making its way
towards the Bering Strait. The reasons for the migration are still being debated by Bill Fitzhugh and other archaeologists.
