ALUTIIQ Sven is descended from the Alutiiq. Over the years he's made recordings of the Alutiiq language, which is in danger of being lost. (Though Russian settlers grouped them with natives from the Aleutian Islands, the Alutiiq's language is distinct.) Now a graduate student at Harvard, Sven plans to record stories and native legends as part of a thorough history of the Alutiiq people. |
