LENA RIVER
The Lena, which the Yakut call "Ulakhan-Iuriakh" or "big river," is the major river of eastern Siberia, flowing 2,734 miles from Lake Baikal to the Laptev Sea. In winter, it sometimes freezes from top to bottom. The Lena is believed to be one of the ancient pathways that led early Asians to the Arctic coast of Siberia and then on to the New World.
